Intel® AMT Power Control

This article explains how to use Intel® AMT power control features.

If a remote computer is configured to use Intel® AMT (Active Management Technology) SmartCode VNC Manager can utilize Intel® AMT’s power control capabilities.

Launching Intel® AMT Power Control tool

To launch Intel AMT® Power Control tool open the context menu on a computer or a VNC thumbnails view item and open "Intel AMT Management" sub-menu. SmartCode Intel AMT power control tool

Intel® AMT Power Control Operations
SmartCode Intel® AMT Power Control tool the following operations:
  • Cold Restart
    restarts a remote computer. This is equivalent to pressing the remote computer’s physical Reset button.
    NOTE: The AMT Cold Restart command is sent directly to the electronics of the remote computer bypassing the remote computer’s operating system. This may result in losing all unsaved data.
  • Cold Turn Off
    Turns off a remote computer. This is equivalent to pressing the remote computer’s physical On/Off power button.
    NOTE: The AMT Turns Off command is sent directly to the electronics of the remote computer bypassing the remote computer’s operating system. This may result in losing all unsaved data.
  • Turn On
    Turns on a remote computer. This is equivalent to pressing the remote computer’s physical On/Off power button.
